Mumba Bra Review – An Innovative New Nursing Bra

Mumba Bra very kindly sent me one of their nursing bras to review recently. As a breastfeeding mum, I’ve found nursing bras to be quite hit and miss. If they’re easy to use they don’t fit well or give you  much shape, if they fit nicely then they aren’t easy to feed in etc. The Mumba Bra does both well and it even has some extra, innovative features that really make a difference! The first innovation is the Mumba Clasp; it  allows  you to keep track of which side you last fed from as you go! When you’re sleep deprived it’s hard to remember what happened five minutes before so taking…

Ikea Poang Chair Review – Our New Nursing Chair

I bought the Ikea Poang chair because we’ve recently moved Theo into his own room and I hadn’t realised that I’d need a chair in there to feed him during the night. At first, I used one of our plastic chairs from the kitchen but it really made my back hurt. I’d read lots of good things online about the Poang but wanted to test it out first so I headed over to Ikea with Theo in tow. I’ve heard that Ikea is breastfeeding friendly and they let you sit in the chairs and feed in them but now Theo is on solids he’s only feeding at specific times so…

CMPA Update: First Appointment with the Paediatrician

I’ve talked before about Theo’s CMPA and food intolerances and have previously posted  about it in these posts: CMPA and breastfeeding story and also my dairy free favourites for a CMPA diet. I’m currently cutting out the following from my diet: Dairy Soya Wheat Eggs Beef Theo also has reflux and has been on Ranitidine for a couple of months. He’s now on the maximum dose for his weight but it’s starting to wear off again… he’s getting the hiccups frequently and being sick about a tablespoon’s worth after each feed. He also seems to gurgle a bit in his throat and swallow down bile throughout the day. We were waiting for…

Sleep Diary Week 2 & 3: Baby Nap and Bedtime Routine

I’ve confused myself here and got really behind in putting up the next installment of our baby nap and bedtime routine sleep diary, unfortunately our phone line was cut by some renegade tree surgeons and Openreach and Sky didn’t exactly jump into action but we’re back up and running now! You can read first week’s sleep diary here. How has the sleeping routine gone this week? Well… there have been ups and downs. I’d become bogged down with sticking to the routine by the letter rather than picking up on Theo’s cues. This resulted in a very emotional day at the beginning of last week when I knew I’d done…

Nap and Bedtime Routine Sleep Diary: Week 1

If you read my Not So Smug Anymore post, you’ll know that until recently we were really lucky with Theo’s sleeping habits. We had a nap and bedtime routine from early on, he learnt to self settle very quickly and had started sleeping through the night. Then the hot weather hit followed quickly by the four month sleep regression and a reflux diagnosis. Not only was he waking up multiple times throughout the night, he refused to sleep in his cot during the day and was having all his naps being rocked to sleep in his pram while he screamed. Something had to give. The Science Behind Baby Sleep: I researched…

    My Aldi Baby Event Haul

I’ve being trying to get out of the house to the Aldi Baby Event for the last couple of days but between trying to sleep train Theo and getting trapped in my house by a dangerous tree (true story) I didn’t manage it as soon as I would have liked. So today, after Theo’s morning nap we headed out to investigate and nab ourselves some bargains! Our local Aldi isn’t huge so I wasn’t expecting the baby event to be massive but I was pleasantly surprised, there was loads and loads of great stuff! I managed to contain myself and not go wild buying a lot of things we don’t…

Baby Development Activity: DIY Family Photo Cards

I’m super excited to share with you my first proper DIY tutorial since having Theo! This is a great little project for young children and babies to aid with their cognitive development. Theo is nearly five months old now and he’s much more interested in exploring the world and really playing with his toys now rather than just looking at them. I wanted to make something that would be fun for him whilst also helping his development and learning – everyone wants their child to be a genius right??   Another great thing about the cards is that they’re perfect for making tummy time entertaining (which can be a struggle…

CMPA & Breastfeeding – Our Story

When Theo was six weeks old the doctor suggested that he might have an intolerance to milk or a cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA). He’s exclusively breastfed so that meant it was the milk in my diet that was causing him problems. I’d taken him to the GP because he’d been straining to poo and then screaming out in pain, that had gone on for a couple of days but then he hadn’t done a poo in 24 hours which was really unusual as he’d been going about 7 or 8 times a day before that. The GP checked him over and commented on the tiny spots and rough skin…
