    Not so smug anymore…

I’ll hold my hands up, so far I’ve been the smug one that had the baby that slept really well in his own cot without a fuss. I say smug, I knew how lucky we were and felt desperately sorry for my friends who were having a much tougher time with their babies, I wasn’t really smug just grateful. Until now. We’ve had a bedtime routine for weeks and it worked. Bathtime (3 nights a week), nappy change, baby massage, walk into the bedroom singing twinkle twinkle, story on the bed, feed with the MyHummy on, baby into cot to fall asleep. It worked! Then it didn’t. For the last…

Baby Travel Essentials – Holidaying with a Newborn

Call us crazy but even though it’s the hottest summer the UK has had in a very long time, we decided to take our 3 month old baby to Ibiza! Not for a party holiday, I hasten to add. We chose Ibiza because of the flight time, we looked at a few places around Spain but we got a great deal on an all inclusive family resort on the white isle. I’m a worrier, I’ve told you this before, but I’m also an obsessive planner and list maker. We ended up taking more stuff than we needed so I wanted to share with you my baby travel essentials along with…

The Best Children’s Books to Read Out Loud to Your Baby

One of the things I’ve always looked forward to when I’ve thought about being a parent is reading stories together. My mum read me a bedtime story every night when I was little and I want Theo to enjoy it just as much as I did. I started early and read Harry Potter to him while he was still in my tummy and now we have a selection of children’s books that I read to him every night before bed. I wanted to share with you my review of the best children’s books to read out loud to your little one. These books aren’t just fun for kids, they’re great…

    Another H&M Baby Clothes Haul!

Because I’ve had to replace nearly all of Theo’s baby clothes I placed a massive H&M order and have made another haul video. I really find H&M online so much better than in store for baby clothes. I went to the Trafford Centre branch the other day and they only had one of the styles I’d ordered! The baby section is tiny and full of basics, the toddler section is a bit better but the best styles were still missing. It was all more of what I call “traditional” baby clothes rather than the more modern styles that they have online. I was also a bit annoyed that you can’t…

My Struggle with Anxiety During Pregnancy | #anxieteaandme

In support of the #anxieteaandme campaign started by the lovely Charlotte from Mombie Diaries, I’ve written this post about my struggle with anxiety during my pregnancy in the hope that more of us will feel able to share our struggles, normalise mental health issues and seek help. Pregnancy is supposed to be a really exciting, happy time. Preparing a new life for the world is meant to be one of the most fulfilling things a woman can do but unfortunately for me, it didn’t happen that way. I’m naturally a worrier so in my first pregnancy, it came out to play a bit but it was manageable and didn’t bother…

Baby Clothes Haul H&M Kids – June 2018

I bit the bullet, jumped on the bandwagon and a bunch of other metaphors and made a Youtube video! I did a baby clothes haul because Theo is a little whopper and has outgrown all his stuff and I really love the H&M kids collection at the minute. I tend to shy away from traditional, cutesy, pale blue baby clothes and prefer monochromes and geometric prints and H&M is really good for that. I can’t believe how quickly he is growing, he’s already in 6-9 month vests and sleepsuits and he’s only a few days shy of 3 months! I don’t think I’ll be able to carry him around in…

How to Take a Baby Passport Photo

We’ve made the brave (or stupid) decision to take Theo on holiday soon and so he needed a baby passport and that means a baby passport photo! The very sound of taking a baby passport photo is daunting, it’s bad enough getting one taken for myself! It was actually more stressful for me to think about taking him to Timpson’s or one of the other many places that take passport photos for babies. What if he was crying? What if he needed feeding and they wouldn’t wait? Admittedly the rules on what is and isn’t acceptable for a baby passport photo aren’t as strict as for adults, for example, the…

New Mum Reading List – My Essential Books for New Parents

With breastfeeding I’ve found a lot of my time as a new Mum has been taken up confined to the sofa or bed and whilst I have binged ALOT of TV sometimes nothing beats a good book! So I thought I’d share with you the books that I’ve been devouring in the last few weeks so that you can start your own new Mum reading list. 1. Happy Mum, Happy Baby – Giovanna Fletcher I’ve always had a soft spot for Giovanna, I was a closet McFly fan and am a hopeless romantic so I loved that Tom wrote Obviously about her and now they’re married with little ones! This…

    My Breastfeeding Capsule Wardrobe

Something I hadn’t even considered before having the baby was that postpartum I wouldn’t be the same size as I was pre-pregnancy and that I’d need easy, frequent access to my boobs! Breastfeeding is pretty intense anyway without one handedly struggling with your clothes to allow a small human access to your nipple without making you both super uncomfortable and getting completely soaked! In the last few weeks I’ve had a pretty constant stream of parcels coming (and often going back) as I’ve tried to get the hang of what to wear for convenience whilst also not feeling like a frumpy mess and I think I’ve finally cracked it so…
