Fisherman’s Beanie Hat Knitting Pattern

My boyfriend has been doing pretty well out of me recently, first the baking and now I’ve gone and knitted him a hat. The hat is becoming an annual tradition, I made him one from the same pattern last year and the other day, he lost it and was having a mad panic. To avoid future crises I decided I’d make him a second one.

It only takes an hour or two to complete and isn’t too taxing so a good one to do whilst watching some TV! You’ll need 4mm needles, I used Aran but you could easily use double knitting (DK) instead.

1. Cast on 90 stitches
2. (Knit 3, Purl 3) repeat to the end of the row. Repeat for subsequent rows until piece measures 8″ (6″ if you don’t want a turn up).
3. (K7, knit 2 together) repeat to the end of the row.
4. Purl row.
5. (K6, knit 2 together) repeat to the end of the row.
6. Purl row.
7. (K5, knit 2 together) repeat to the end of the row.
8. Purl row.
9. K4, knit 2 together) repeat to the end of the row.
10. Purl row.
11. (K3, knit 2 together) repeat to the end of the row.
12. Purl row.
13. (K2, knit 2 together) repeat to the end of the row.
14. Purl row.
15. (K1, knit 2 together) repeat to the end of the row.
16. Purl row.
17. Knit 2 together to end of row
18. Purl 2 together until the end of row.

Cut off leaving a long tail of yarn and thread through the remaining five stitches with a needle. Stitch the two sides of the hat together with the yarn. Done.
