Baby Travel Essentials – Holidaying with a Newborn

Call us crazy but even though it’s the hottest summer the UK has had in a very long time, we decided to take our 3 month old baby to Ibiza! Not for a party holiday, I hasten to add. We chose Ibiza because of the flight time, we looked at a few places around Spain but we got a great deal on an all inclusive family resort on the white isle. I’m a worrier, I’ve told you this before, but I’m also an obsessive planner and list maker. We ended up taking more stuff than we needed so I wanted to share with you my baby travel essentials along with…

    Another H&M Baby Clothes Haul!

Because I’ve had to replace nearly all of Theo’s baby clothes I placed a massive H&M order and have made another haul video. I really find H&M online so much better than in store for baby clothes. I went to the Trafford Centre branch the other day and they only had one of the styles I’d ordered! The baby section is tiny and full of basics, the toddler section is a bit better but the best styles were still missing. It was all more of what I call “traditional” baby clothes rather than the more modern styles that they have online. I was also a bit annoyed that you can’t…

Baby Clothes Haul H&M Kids – June 2018

I bit the bullet, jumped on the bandwagon and a bunch of other metaphors and made a Youtube video! I did a baby clothes haul because Theo is a little whopper and has outgrown all his stuff and I really love the H&M kids collection at the minute. I tend to shy away from traditional, cutesy, pale blue baby clothes and prefer monochromes and geometric prints and H&M is really good for that. I can’t believe how quickly he is growing, he’s already in 6-9 month vests and sleepsuits and he’s only a few days shy of 3 months! I don’t think I’ll be able to carry him around in…

How to Take a Baby Passport Photo

We’ve made the brave (or stupid) decision to take Theo on holiday soon and so he needed a baby passport and that means a baby passport photo! The very sound of taking a baby passport photo is daunting, it’s bad enough getting one taken for myself! It was actually more stressful for me to think about taking him to Timpson’s or one of the other many places that take passport photos for babies. What if he was crying? What if he needed feeding and they wouldn’t wait? Admittedly the rules on what is and isn’t acceptable for a baby passport photo aren’t as strict as for adults, for example, the…

    My Favourite Baby Knitting Patterns

TodayI’m going to share with you my four favourite free baby knitting patterns and my finished versions. I had big plans to make loads and loads of stuff in preparation for the baby’s arrival but unfortunately I’ve had loads of trouble with my back (in the erector spinae muscle if you’re interested) which has made it really difficult for me to sit upright and knit or sew. I’m pretty gutted about this but have still managed to make him a few things in time for his arrival in the next couple of weeks. Baby knitting is my favourite knitting because small pieces take less time and so are super satisfying…

Adam’s story + Preemie & Stillborn Baby Hat Knitting Pattern

Just a warning that this post includes some sensitive and emotive topics before we get to the baby hat knitting pattern. For anyone following the Oh Hi DIY instagram (@ohhidiy), you’ll probably already know that I’m 29 weeks pregnant! What you might not know, is that I was also pregnant at the end of 2016. At the 20 week anomaly scan we were told that our little boy, Adam, wasn’t growing properly. He was subsequently diagnosed with Thanatophoric Dysplasia – a skeletal condition that means the rib cage and the limb bones do not grow. The condition’s name is derived from a Greek work “Thanatos” which means “death bringing” –…
