The BEST Foundation for Oily Skin & Acne! | Bareminerals Foundation Review

I have searched for many years to find the best foundation for my oily skin that is prone to acne. I’ve tried foundations costing from £6 to £50 and guess what? None of them suited me.

Until I found this one! I realised that the mistake that I was making was that I kept trying different kinds of liquid foundation. It’s the default kind right? But liquid foundation just doesn’t seem to suit oily skin. After a couple of hours, it just seems to lift off my face and sits on top of it as if I haven’t bothered to blend it out or rub it in. It’s not a good look!

Recently I had an epiphany, if powder is so good at blotting oil why don’t I try a powder foundation? I did some googling and found BareMinerals Original Powder Foundation. This stuff ticks all my boxes!

Is BareMinerals Original Foundation Non-Comodegenic?

Yes! The first thing I look for in a foundation for oily skin is that it’s non-comodegenic (it won’t clog my pores). I have enough breakouts that I have no intention of making them worse. Not only does this BareMinerals foundation not clog pores, it contains Zinc Oxide which has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties so it can actually help to ward off breakouts!

Is it a Full Coverage Foundation?

Something that has caught me out in the past when I’ve been trying to find the best foundation for oily skin is the coverage level. I want to cover my spots but the heavier the coverage, the worse the product seems to sit on my face and the cakier it looks. The beauty of the BareMinerals Powder foundation is that the coverage is buildable. It can be sheer to full coverage depending on how much you apply. This also means that you can build coverage on problem areas and keep it light in others.

I’ve also found that it doesn’t stick to spots and scabs in the same way as liquid foundation so does a much better job at concealing them.

Will it Suit My Skin Tone?

Another great thing about this foundation is that it comes in 30 shades so is suitable for all skin tones. I use Light Beige 09 which at first glance looks super dark in the pot but matches perfectly to my skin on application.

The foundation has a slight sheen to it so leaves skin looking healthy and dewy. There is a matte version available but I haven’t tried it because I love the Original version so much. Let me know if you’d be interested in seeing a comparison post!

How Long Does the Foundation Last on Oily Skin?

BareMinerals advise that the Original Powder Foundation lasts for up to eight hours but I’ve actually found it lasts for longer – bonus!

Is There Anything Else I Should Know?

Quite a few actually! Bareminerals Original Foundation is hypo-allergenic and vegan. It’s also SPF 15 so helps protect your skin from sun damage (although I would always recommed wearing it over a proper sunscreen) without containing any chemical sunscreens. It’s talc free so all killer no filler and it’s gluten free too!

Is it the Best Foundation for Oily Skin?

YES! The BareMinerals Original Foundation is the best foundation for oily skin and acne that I have ever used, hands down. Make up application is a dream on top of it, I reallly don’t have anything bad to say!
