Katharine House Recycling Centre, Stafford’s Best Kept Secret
As any keen DIYer knows, finding the perfect piece of furniture for upcycling is tricky, particularly if you’re on a budget. Luckily for me (and now you) I have stumbled across the most amazing place and, being in the Midlands, it’s pretty accessible!
This upcycling mecca is Katharine House Recycling Centre – it is full of incredible bargains like a grandfather clock for £80 or a solid pine cot for £25! It has a big selection of all types of furniture, from wardrobes to sideboards to sofas.
There’s also an awesome collection of crockery, ornaments, board games, DVDs and the list goes on!
The recycling centre works on donations from the general public and the proceeds are used to help fund the Katharine House Hospice. Situated in the grounds of Stafford Hospital, Katharine House helps support people with life limiting conditions and their families. My boyfriend’s family have benefitted from the care of Katharine House and it really is a very worthy cause.
You can donate furniture and lots of other things and they’ll come and collect it free of charge or if you’d like to make a monetary donation to the charity you can do so here: https://www.khhospice.org.uk/donate-now
If you’d like to visit this Aladdin’s cave of treasures in person the address is Katharine House Recycling Centre, St Alban’s Road, Stafford, ST16 3DR and it’s open Monday – Saturday 9.30am – 4.30 pm and Sundays and bank holidays 10am – 4pm.
Sorry for the terrible picture quality, I only had my phone with me when you visited, for a better look pop by and investigate! If you’re not close enough to Stafford for a visit, there are lots of charity furniture warehouses dotted around the country (and beyond!) that have lots of treasures to be found. The internet is a great way to find the nearest one to you. If you know of a great place for finding great used furniture or other goodies please leave me a comment so we can share the love!

Ooh I love places like this, it looks like you could find all sorts in there. My mum lives in Stafford so I know where I’m dragging us off to next time I visit!
